Ethiopian Exchange
Agricultural output in Ethiopia is directly tied to human well being. An overwhelming majority of Ethiopian small-holder farmers are female. The purpose of this project is to train female scientists in molecular biology and genomics to help answer questions towards solving Ethiopian agricultural problems. Funds will be used for a scientific exchange program between UC Davis and the Ethiopian Agricultural Research Center (EIAR). Two researchers from EIAR will carry out a 6 week research internship to learn genomics methodologies and bioinformatic analysis in practical experiments that will further research programs at EIAR and foster collaborations between our two institutions.
